Essential fatty acids can quickly oxidise after coming in contact with oxygen. To prevent this

from happening, naturally mixed tocopherols are added to EPA Forte and it is mixed and filled

under oxygen-free conditions. The fatty acids in this product are present in their natural triglyceride form and not in the form of fatty acid esters.

 

The capsule is made of fish gelatine. The fish oil is made from sardines, anchovies and mackerel caught off the coasts of Peru, Chile and Morocco. No endangered species are used.

 

DESCRIPTION
The essential polyunsaturated fatty acid eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) belongs to the omega-3

fatty acids and is mainly found in fat from seafood. EPA is a precursor of hormone-like, local signalling substances: the eicosanoids. EPA and it’s metabolites support health in a manner of

ways. They are beneficial for the cardiovascular system and the immune system and help keep

the joints supple. Sufficient EPA is also important for a good memory and mood.

Most important features of EPA Forte:

  • Contains 200 mg EPA per capsule
  • High concentration of EPA relative to DHA (EPA:DHA-ratio of 9:2)
  • The fatty acids in this product are present in it’s natural triglyceride form and not in the form of fatty acid esters
  • The fish oil is highly purified and therefore low in heavy metals, dioxins and other contaminants
  • The fish oil is derived from sardines, anchovies and mackerel; no endangered species are used
  • The capsule is made of fish gelatine, and therefore suitable for people who abstain from beef or pork products
  • Natural mixed tocopherols (instead of merely vitamin E) have been added to prevent oxidation from occurring

USE
Maintenance dose: take 1 to 2 capsules daily, during or immediately after a meal. This corresponds with 200-400 mg EPA per day. When necessary the dose can be increased to a few grams of EPA

a day. In general, it takes 1 to 4 months before the effects of omega-3 fatty acids are noticeable. The capsule may be opened if experiencing difficulties with swallowing.

 

WARNING
Using high doses of fish oil (more than 5 gram EPA + DHA per day) increases the chance of

getting diarrhoea. Caution is advised when using anticoagulants (blood thinners). There is an increased risk of internal haemorrhaging when using doses of more than 3 gram EPA + DHA per

day (13 capsules EPA Forte or more a day). Also other interactions with regular medication and other natural health products may occur. Please consult an expert about this.

 

SYNERGISM
Simultaneous use of Vitamin E-400 complex (at least 400 IE per day) is
highly recommended due

to the high degree of unsaturation of omega-3 fatty acids. The naturally mixed tocopherols in

the omega-3 products of Bonusan are sufficient to prevent oxidation from occurring. However,

fatty acid oxidation can also occur in the body and hence protection through the simultaneous

use of extra vitamin E is highly recommended. Besides taking this product it is also recommended

to follow a healthy diet, as well as taking a basic supplementation of Multi Vital Forte, Vitamin C-1000 Ascorbate Complex and Omega-3 liquid (or Omega-3 capsules).
