When one advances in years, the levels of glutathione in the cells drop by approximately 30% to 35% per cent. NAC (N-acetyl-cysteine) helps recover these levels.
NAC is most frequently used in doses of between 200mg and 1200mg, spread evenly throughout the day.
Nausea and/or irritation of the stomach may occur if NAC is taken on an empty stomach. Taking NAC along with a light snack without protein (for instance, fruit) usually solves this problem.
