DESCRIPTION
L-Carnitine plays an essential role in the energy production by fatty acids. It is the only substance able to guide the long-chain fatty acids over the inner membranes into the cell mitochondria
where they are burnt (beta-oxidation). Likewise, the L-carnitine transports the metabolic products
of the citric acid cycle back out of the mitochondria and back into the cytoplasm. Carnitine is
also involved in the energy production from ketone bodies, pyruvate and/or amino acids.
Carnitine is particularly important for organs that are strongly dependent on the fat burning process for their energy supply, such as the heart, the muscles and the brain. L-Carnitine is almost exclusively found in animal products (carnis = meat). A vegetarian diet is often low in the building blocks of
L-carnitine (lysine and methionine).
Carnitine helps to improve physical performance. Carnitine increases energy production in the muscle cells and supports oxygen absorption during strenuous physical activity and exercise.
It limits the formation and promotes the elimination of lactic acid and helps to prevent muscle fatigue. A carnitine supplement can also replenish carnitine levels when more carnitine is lost through sweat and urine than is generated as a result of heavy exercise. L-carnitine improves performance significantly in untrained individuals. Carnitine also accelerates recovery after
illness and helps against fatigue. It is invigorating for the heart and promotes circulation.
It stimulates the secretion of ammonia by promoting the incorporation of ammonia in urea.
Carnitine is also important for the quality of sperm. Sperm synthesis is largely dependent on the burning of fat. This way carnitine contributes to the fertility of males.
Most important characteristics of L-Carnitine:
- High dose of pure carnitine per capsule
- Only contains the natural L-form of the amino acid
USE
Take 1 capsule daily, at least half an hour before a meal. Do not take the capsules together with foods containing protein. Simultaneous presence of other amino acids compromises the absorption of L-carnitine. It is not recommended to take L-carnitine 400 mg in the evening because it can disturb sleep. The capsule may be opened if experiencing difficulties with swallowing.
WARNING
Interactions with regular medication and other natural health products may occur. Please consult an expert about this.
SYNERGISM
It is recommended to also supplement the building blocks of L-carnitine (such as the amino acid L-lysine) to stimulate the biosynthesis (especially in the liver and kidneys) of L-carnitine, as well as to supplement with the cofactors within the synthetic process (niacin, vitamin B6, vitamin C, magnesium and iron). Besides taking this product it is also recommended to follow a healthy diet,
as well as taking a basic supplementation of Multi Vital Forte, Vitamin C-1000 Ascorbate Complex and Omega-3 liquid (or Omega-3 capsules).
