If an amount of glucosamine is stated in the name of a product, this only refers to the amount of elementary glucosamine (e.g. "Glucosamine 600 mg"). To prevent confusion, in the information Bonusan indicates the amount of glucosamine sulphate this is equivalent to. However, frequently in scientific studies, (only) the amount was and is still indicated. The dose often used in scientific research is 1500 mg of glucosamine sulphate. This is equivalent to 1182 elementary glucosamine. This is equivalent to a daily dose of Glucosamine forte (1200 mg).
DESCRIPTION
Glucosamine forte is a strong combination product, which helps to maintain flexible joints. Glucosamine is a key building block of joint cartilage. When there is an endogenous glucosamine production deficiency, the body can also use glucosamine from the food. However, there are only a few dietary sources that are rich in glucosamine. It occurs naturally in larger amounts in cartilage and the hard parts of crustaceans; these sources are usually not considered to be food. The exact mechanism of action of glucosamine is still unclear, but roughly there are two different effects. First of all it provides substrate for the production of glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans (such as chondroitin sulphate and hyaluronic acid). Secondly, it also provides an anabolic stimulus: it stimulates the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans, proteoglycans and collagen.
Glucosamine forte provides the main building blocks for joint cartilage, such as glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM.
