Excipients: natural mixed tocopherols.
Guaranteed to contain no: GMO, maize, yeast, gluten, lactose, added saccharose, gelatine, animal products, artificial preservatives, artificial colouring and flavouring agents, artificial odours.
This product does not contain any toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids.
Essential fatty acids can oxidise quickly after oxygen exposure. To prevent this from happening, natural mixed tocopherols have been added to the liquid (GMO-free). The GLA Forte liquid is
mixed and filled under oxygen-free conditions. In addition, room temperature influences the
speed of the oxidation processes; for this reason it is recommended to store the bottle in a cool place after opening. Under these circumstances the liquid can be kept fresh for about 8 weeks
after opening.
DESCRIPTION
Borage oil is one of the few natural sources of gamma linolenic acid (GLA). GLA is a metabolic product of the essential omega-6 fatty acid linoleic acid. GLA and linoleic acid belong to
the omega-6 fatty acid family, a group of polyunsaturated fatty acids that our body cannot produce itself. Linoleic acid (and from this GLA) are precursors of the beneficial type-1-eicosanoids (prostaglandins). These are hormone-like, local signalling molecules that control various physio-logical processes. Although diet usually contains sufficient linoleic acid (all vegetable oils are rich
in linoleic acid) the body is not always sufficiently able to convert these (quickly) into GLA.
This slow conversion is caused by a slow or diminished activity of the enzyme delta-6-desaturase.
This may be due to genetic disposition, to a high consumption of trans fats and saturated fats,
to insufficient intake of zinc, magnesium and/or vitamin B6, and to hormonal factors.
All of these increase the need for GLA. GLA Forte liquid supplies GLA ready for use. Essential fatty acids, especially omega-6 fatty acids such as GLA, are found in the cell walls of the skin and
support the moisturising balance as well as skin elasticity. GLA moisturises and hydrates the sensitive, dry, rough and chapped skin. It stimulates the development of skin cells and aids the natural immune system and helps with difficulties during menstruation.
Most important characteristics of GLA Forte liquid:
- Only contains borage oil, the richest natural source of GLA (at least 20% GLA)
- Contains a minimum of 458 mg GLA per half a teaspoon (2.5 ml)
- Contains no toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids
- The liquid dosage form makes it easy to follow a high dosage fatty acid therapy
- Special opening to pour the oil conveniently, doses easily without spilling.
USE
Take half a teaspoon (2.5 ml) 1 to 2 times daily during or immediately after a meal. Every teaspoon provides at least 458 mg GLA.
WARNING
Interactions with regular medication and other natural health products may occur. Please consult an expert about this.
SYNERGISM
Simultaneous use of Vitamin E-400 complex (at least 400 IE per day) is strongly recommended due
to the high degree of unsaturation of omega-6 fatty acids. GLA Forte liquid contains amounts of natural mixed tocopherols which are sufficient to prevent oxidation from occurring. However, fatty acid oxidation can also occur in the body and hence protection through the simultaneous use
of extra vitamin E is strongly recommended. Besides taking this product it is also recommended to follow a healthy diet, as well as taking a basic supplementation of Multi Vital Forte, Vitamin C-1000 Ascorbate Complex and Omega-3 liquid (or Omega-3 capsules).
