DESCRIPTION
Flavoxan provides the body with flavonoids, a varied group of polyphenols. There is a lot of scientific interest in this large group of powerful antioxidants and free radical scavengers, which includes more than 8,000 compounds. Although the flavonoids are very diverse, all of them have been derived from a limited number of basic structures. All flavonoids are composed of several phenyl rings (polyphenols). A phenol group contains an aromatic ring bonded directly to a hydroxyl group (-OH). Flavonoids protect the plant (or seeds) from harmful UV irradiation. That is why flavonoids in fruit and vegetables are often found in the outer peeling or just underneath. Flavonoids are responsible for the, sometimes brightly coloured, pigmentations of fruits and vegetables. The flavones and flavonols give a yellow colour; the anthocyanins provide the red, purple and blue of, for example, grapes, blueberries and strawberries.

Flavoxan contains powerful antioxidants that are many times stronger than vitamin C and vitamin E. It protects against radicals through replenishing and regenerating antioxidants and by binding prooxidative metals. The flavonoids in Flavoxan stimulate the production of nitrogen monoxide (NO), an important regulator in the body. This way Flavoxan protects against various age-related symptoms. Another important aspect of Flavoxan is to support important barriers in the body, such as vessel walls.

The ORAC-value (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) of Flavoxan is very high for the hydrophilic as well as for the lipophilic fraction. The ORAC-test is an in vitro test that makes it possible to compare the antioxidative capacity of nutrients and nutritional supplements.

The ORAC-value is expressed in Trolox equivalents (TE), which is a comparison to the Trolox standard.

USAGE
Take 2 capsules a day, during or immediately after a meal. For intensive use the dose can be increased to 4 capsules per day. Capsule may be opened if experiencing difficulties with swallowing.

SYNERGISM
Flavonoids are not the only compounds that play a role in the protection against free radicals. Santioxan provides the most important vitaminic antioxidants, as well as L-cysteine, an important precursor of glutathione.
