DESCRIPTION Vitamin B12 is active in the body in the form of adenosylcobalamin (dibencozide) and methylcobalamin. Dibencozide is mainly found in the cell mitochondria; we especially find methylcobalamin in blood plasma, in other bodily fluids and in the cell cytoplasm. Nutritional supplements in general contain vitamin B12 in the form of cyanocobalamin. The disadvantage of this form is that the cyanide group needs to be removed first and the remaining cobalamin only gets slowly converted into the active coenzyme forms. The normal absorption process of vitamin B12 requires sufficient hydrochloric acid and intrinsic factor. Thanks to its sublingual administration, the vitamin is absorbed immediately into the bloodstream via mucous membranes of the mouth, thus bypassing the digestive tract. However, this method requires a high-dose, many times higher than the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA). This product contains such a high dose.

USE Melt 1 sublingual tablet a day under the tongue. If the sublingual tablet is swallowed before it has melted completely, part of the vitamin B12 is still absorbed. Vitamin B12 is also absorbed via diffusion in the stomach and in the first part of the small intestine, provided that the doses are more than 650 mcg per day. It has been found that doses above 1,000 mcg of vitamin B12 per day have no extra beneficial effects.
WARNING Interactions with regular medication and other natural health products may occur. Please consult an expert about this.
SYNERGISM Because vitamin B12 and folic acid have very similar biological functions, folic acid has been added to the formulation. Folic acid aids in the production of red blood cells. It is also involved in breaking down proteins and in the metabolism of amino acids. Folic acid plays an important role in the growth and division of cells, as folate is essential for the synthesis of DNA and RNA. Vitamin B6 and other synergists are also necessary to metabolise vitamin B12.
