DESCRIPTION
Carotenoids are important colouring agents found in nature. They are responsible for the red, orange and yellow colours of fruit and vegetables. The important role these compounds play in nature has become more and more evident over the years. Apart from beta carotene, the most well-known carotenoid, no official recommendations for carotenoids exist. Various types of carotenoids can be converted into vitamin A (retinol), of which beta carotene is the easiest to convert. Alpha carotene, cryptoxanthin, lycopene, lutein and zeaxanthin cannot be converted into vitamin A. Carotenoids are a safer source of vitamin A than vitamin A itself, because the body only converts carotenoids into vitamin A if necessary.
Carotenoids protect healthy cells and tissue against free radicals; a mixture of carotenoids provides a better antioxidative protection than each carotenoid on its own. Carotenoids also support the condition of the eye. Lutein and zeaxanthin are the only carotenoids in the macula, the area in the eye responsible for clear and detailed vision. The carotenoids also promote the natural immune system and provide support for the cardiovascular system.
Carotenoid complex is a unique complex formula of well-known and less well-known carotenes and carotenoids. To warrant an extensive supply of also the lesser known carotenoids, Carotenoid complex has been supplemented with concentrates of carotene-rich products, such as spinach and spirulina.
Most important features of Carotenoid complex:
- Contains a broad spectrum of well-known and less well-known carotenoids from a natural source
- Contains significant amounts of alpha and beta carotene from the alga Dunaliella salina and from palm kernel oil
- Also contains concentrates of spinach and spirulina to warrant an extensive supply of less well-known carotenoids
- In a base of cold pressed extra virgin olive oil
USAGE
Take 2 to 3 capsules a day, during or immediately after a meal. 1 capsule a day is sufficient as a maintenance dosage.
Preferably spread your intake evenly throughout the day. Capsule may be opened if experiencing difficulties with swallowing. The beneficial effects of carotenoids are noticeable in the long run. In some people carotenes can cause a yellowish colouring of the skin. This is harmless and will disappear after the dosage is decreased.
WARNING
Interactions with regular medication and natural health products may occur. Please consult an expert about this.
