DESCRIPTION
Garlic is rich in unique sulphur compounds, the most important being alliin (S-allyl-L-cysteine sulfoxide). Stable alliin is converted into allicin (diallyl thiosulfinate) by the enzyme alliinase when fresh garlic is chopped or crushed. Allicin is a very volatile substance and is immediately converted into more
than a hundred volatile metabolites (thiosulfinates). Good garlic preparations, such as Allium sativum extract, mainly contain alliin. In the intestines and in other areas in the body this is converted into metabolites with a strong health promoting influence. The tablets of Allium sativum extract are covered with a special coating to ensure that the enzyme alliinase is not deactivated by gastric
acid. Alliinase only becomes active in the intestines where the tablet gets into contact with moisture.
Allium sativum has a general vitalising influence on especially the cardiovascular system. It helps to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels and is beneficial for blood pressure and blood viscosity.
It promotes blood circulation in the capillaries. In addition, Allium sativum fortifies the immune system
of the organism and prevents against age-related symptoms caused by free radical damage.
It also supports the cleansing function of the liver (especially the phase-2-detoxification system).
Most important characteristics of Allium sativum:
- Contains a very high concentration of stable alliin, a central precursor of various active garlic metabolites
- Alliin is converted into allicine and thiosulfates in the human body, which are responsible for many of the health promoting qualities of garlic
- The tablet coating prevents the enzyme alliinase from being deactivated by gastric acid
- Coated and easy to swallow tablets
USAGE
Take 1 tablet daily, during or immediately after a meal.
WARNING
Do not use in case of sensitivity to garlic. Care is advised with the use of Allium sativum extract
before and immediately after surgery and when using anticoagulant medication (such as warfarin, indomethacin and aspirin), since garlic interferes with (inhibits) the blood clotting process.
Interactions with regular medication and other natural health products may occur. Please consult
an expert about this.
